Microsoft has released some updated details on the End of Support for Windows XP.
On April 8th, 2014, when Microsoft releases the last patches for Windows XP, they will also be cutting off downloads for their free antivirus program, Microsoft Security Essentials. From April 9th onward, users will no longer be able to download MSE straight from Microsoft’s website.
Microsoft will continue to provide updates to the Windows XP version of MSE until July 14th, 2015. After that, if you’re still running Windows XP and still running MSE, your risk of being infected or having your system accessed by malicious individuals will skyrocket.
